I've not seen the avast pressure switch I'll have to check that out. The osmolator nano is for the QT tank. The display is going to be run with 3 float switches through the Apex

Not to knock the Tunze, just trusting one float switch is kind of scary for a display tank.

Yea I would check out the avast pressure switch. Supposed to be better then a float switch, there's no moving parts. Wasn't very expensive, and hooks right up to an apex break out box. Email them if you have any questions, they are good about responding.

I think maybe you were looking at the wrong part. They sell replacement acrylic tubes. That does nothing. The actual ATO is sold as a kit, and it's $80-$90


The actual switch is located inside that plastic box. The acrylic tube just fills with water and tells the switch to open or close.

Still No luck on getting the TP power over Ethernet adapters to work with the apex. The adapters are synced and have signal but the apex's web interface won't load.

I'm going to go pick up a range extender tomorrow and give that a shot.

I also stopped in at a local LFS to pick up a new Potters Angel. When I transferred my livestock over this week my Potters Angel didn't survive the trip. He was in a 5 gallon bucket for a 25 minute ride. Since they are my favorite fish I had to go pick up another.

Well when I got to the LFS I saw that they had a darker variant Scopas. I had a similar Scopas in my first ever setup and it was my all time favorite! Haven't seen that many since so I had to snag him up!

My display currently has a female swallowtail, dwarf golden angel, and flame hawk that have been through TTM and prazi. Currently in QT are: potters angel, black leopard wrasse, clown pair, Scopas tang, mole tang.

Ibadan the old tang, he's in observation, and then bought the Scopas. So I'll be getting rid of the kole.

Once I finally finish fine tuning everything I promise to break out the DSLR and take quality photos.

All that's left is get the ATO setup, figure out wireless connectivity, and program the GHL.

Well I have not had the greatest luck with fish lately. In my previous setup I had a golden dwarf angel, which was a valentines gift from the wife. He was kept in my previous frag tank and ate like a champ. When I got closer to transfer day I removed him and a few other fish and ran them through TTM and a bacterial treatment just to make sure my new setup would be disease free. I had never QTd anything on my old setup so I knew there was the possibility of suppressed ich.

He went through TTM great, but after transferring him he became very reclusive, hiding in the rock all the time. I haven't seen him come out to eat since putting him in the display 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I checked in the hole he was hiding in and he was swimming around fine. Today I find him being pushed around by the current. He's alive, but barely. His breathily is labored but not rapid and he's very weak. He's noticeably skinnier. I moved him to my observation tank to try and get him eating, but I fear I'm past the point of no return.

Update time!

I'm finally starting to get things finished off with the tank. The commotion of moving and work has left me little time to dial in the tank. I've got a free day Saturday (wife's got a baby shower out of state) and am going to tie up loose ends. I still need to setup the heater, program the GHL doser, and setup the ATO.

I've had some temp issues going from LEDs back to MH/T5. My tank has hovered right around 82.0. I ordered one of those clip on lights to try and drop the temp a bit. Initial impressions were good. Not as ugly as I was expecting. I hooked it up last night and let it run all night. I haven't been using a heater at all since my temp has been so high. This morning I checked the temp and it was at 76.7. So it definitely has the ability to drop a few degrees. I'm hoping that with the help of the fan I can keep temps around 80-81.

Lastly, some fish finishing up on QT! Once these guys are done I'm going to pickup some wrasses (hopefully a flame pair) and I'd like either a Juvi regal or a male swallowtail to pair with my female.

I created a separate rock island to keep my gig from and center and away from sticks; however, he detached, floated to the main rock work, and is now on a death march across the main structure leaving a path of irritated SPS [emoji35]. So tonight I need to find a way to get him off, either by blasting with a power head or ice on the foot.

Well I officially suck at maintaining a build thread! I've recently had a velvet outbreak that's resulted in all fish being removed from the display. Lost both my centropyges and a Genicanthus. But on the brighter side my SPS seem to be finally starting to settle in after the transfer. Starting to sprout new nubs and encrust a little bit.

Lost some fish due to the velvet. Lost the three Angels I had almost immediately into treatment. The Scopas, leopard, clowns, and Melanurus all responded really well to CP and after a week all symptoms were gone. Then out of the blue my Scopas stops eating, gets a severely pinched belly, and is dead in 3-4 days. Not sure what the issue was. I also lost a small Lyretail anthias at the same time. Then this morning found a pink margin struggling at the bottom of the QT. he was still alive when I went to work, but I don't expect to find him alive when I get home. Tank is about half way through its fallow period. All other QT fish are doing well. What's remaining is a leopard, two clowns, Lyretail trio, and Melanurus. There may or may not be a pink margin still in the mix, I'll find out when I get home.

Today I received a shipment from PIA. These will go in my office tank until the fallow period is over.

What a great looking tank! I have always liked the 80g DeepBlue and was my upgrade tank until I got a smokin' deal on a 120. I have to ask, where did you get the stuff to hang those 3 LED lights?

Thanks! I love the 80, although I do wish it was 18" tall instead of 16" but oh well. The LED fixtures are OR-T247s and have 4 bolts on each unit located in each corner for the hanging kit. I went to Home Depot and got some metal strips (zinc I think), drilled holes to line up with the hanging kit bolts and then painted them in a rubberized spray paint. My intentions were to just use two of the hanging kits, but the metal strips weren't thick enough and the whole thing was sagging in the middle due to the weight. So unfortunately I had to use all three hanging kits. But it still turned out halfway decent.

Had a good weekend with the tank! Got my large Multibar to start eating some garlic soaked spirulina brine. The smaller too have yet to take, but I think that's partly from the aggression from the larger Multibar. They seem stressed. I'm hoping this will subside and won't carry over into the main tank.

This weekend I also picked up the following: ASD Phoenix, Tyree Pink Lemonade, Starburst cap, RMF Diablo, Ultimate Miyagi, Hawkins Echinata, Red Dragon, and the crown jewel WD Tenuis.

I've got an ASD Dragon Queen (looks just like Mr. Pacman) so I want to place these two next to each other and see how they grow out.

Yes I did. It's your standard 2x4 frame but with a 2x6 header. Then skinned in 3/4 ply and pine board.

Sad to say none of the Multibars made it. I had a very bad stretch of luck with some fish. Lost all three Multibars, two potters wrasses, meleagris leopard, copper banded butterfly, super male rhomboid, and a Melanurus.

The Melanurus made it through 6 weeks of CP, prazi, and two doses of Furan two just to die in the DT 1 week later. I think the CP killed his appetite. I didn't see him eat the last 2 weeks of QT.

The Rhomboid was a freak accident. He shredded his mouth chasing after a piece of food that was in front of a rock. It never recovered despite anti-bacterial treatments.

The Multibars just never ate anything, and the leopards and copper banded were lost to bad infestation of flukes.

But silver lining I've got a multicolor angel, Picasso clowns and my black leopard all through QT and back into the display. I've got a baby 1" hippo and yellow tang in QT currently and they're both doing well. They were gifts from my wife for our anniversary. Not my first choice but she wanted them. Gotta do what you gotta do to keep the Mrs. Happy with the hobby!

I also finally got my UV installed. Please excuse the crummy iPhone photos. Eventually I'll stop being lazy and get the Nikon out.
