I have 4 pair of clowns in separate 10 gal tanks. I've been collecting things I need to build a breeding setup. 1 of my pairs had eggs last night so I think its time to get going with the project. I have 6- 40 gal breeders that I will use and separate in half. Probably just start with 2 of them for my 4 pair. another will be used as a sump. 1 or 2 for grow out tanks. I have a few 29's and 10's to use as fry and misc. If anyone is interested I will photo and post the build as I complete things. Also I will take feedback as to what I should or should not do. Thanks Dave

Do you have your rotifers going now? You will need them to feed the larvae.

I have had good success using round 2 gallon goldfish bowls to grow out the larva to get them through meta. The bowls work great to keep the rotifers circulating around so the larva get better chance of snagging them. Keeping the water green also helps. Just keep the an air tube slowly bubbling a few bubbles a second to keep the water circulating and keep an eye on ammonia.

Hi Rudy. Both pair are doing good. no eggs yet though. The pair that spawned are just regular percs that someone gave me for free. This will make good practice for feeding and raising. Will start posting pics of the build soon. My son is getting married next weekend so it will be a busy week for me.

I started the breeding setup. I got a couple of the 40 breeders drilled and the backs painted. Also got the dividers painted. For those who have never drilled a tank, put a bead of plumbers putty around where the hole will go and put a little water inside to cool the bit. I drilled for 1" bulkheads.

I started to put the stand together to see how things fit. I reinforced the cross members. I need to level things off and I will put 3/4" square uprights in the center between the shelves to help prevent sagging.

Started working on the overflow plumbing. A tip when having to align a few t's and elbows is to dry fit everything first and mark the depth of the pipe into the fitting and the orientation of the outlets before you start gluing things together.

These are the overflows I will be using. I have one on each side of the tank in case I want to divide them.

I plumbed the return lines. Each of the 6 tanks will have a manifold as seen in the pic. Pipes run in the wall to keep things tidy. I ordered some loc-line with shut off valves and nozzles to finish off the returns.
