I've had this guy a little over 2 weeks. He had these white speckles on his face. Wondering if that's normal for Tomini or if it's something I should worry about? Thanks in advance guys. Screenshot_20240811_191210_Gallery.jpg

These appear to be eith bacterial tufts or mucus cones on the area. Mucus cones often mixed with ich will often be on the body also and will do so if it is each 24 hours. If bacterial tufts, you want to assure optimum water quality and diet and fish should respond to treatment with ruby rally pro which will take longer but reef safe or more effectively in a separate treatment tank using seachem Neoplex with added aeration

It's just right there on his face the rest of his body is clean. I know you said Neoplex but I have some kanaplex on hand would kanamycin help? He's already in a qt with a firefish rn. Thank you for your reply!

You can use Kanaplex in lieu of. Neoplex will address bacterial and fungal together but kanaplex easily absorbed by fish treating internally and externally

Thanks @vetteguy53081 ! I'm really happy you didn't say beginnings of HLLE. I was worried that's what it was.
Except here I come, that’s the start of HLLE, but the fish may have other issues as well, see how the spots are almost exactly mirrored left and right? That’s a hallmark of HLLE.

I'll just make sure water stays pristine and keep feeding him good. I did dose the Kana last night. I'm sure it didn't hurt. Thanks guys

Do you guys think maybe it was copper exposure? My nitrates have never got very high(40-50 tops)and he eats good(mysis and quarter sheet nori a day).

Copper exposure is often implicated, but further testing indicates that is not a root cause. Previous exposure to dusty carbon is a known cause.
