Hi everyone

So I've just made saltwater for the first time with my Spectrapure and have a few questions.

1) Is chlorine and chloramine removed by my rodi media? Should I be testing waste water to know when the carbon should be changed?

2) when should I be changing the filters ? I was told after I get a reading of 001ppm TDS.

3) If I connect my smart buddy booster pump exactly how much more psi will run through the membrane ?

Thank you

Also when I'm not using the unit does water need to be in the di cartridges So that they don't gobad? After I finished making water they dropped to half full

Sediment gets change if there is a 10% drop in pressure, or after six months. carbon gets changed if you have detectable chlorine, or after six months. test the product water, not the waste water. use your tds meters to determine replacement of the membrane and both di carts. the instruction manual walks you through the process.

Using a booster pump will help with psi. is yours too low?

The residual water in the canisters is fine. I usually run my unit five minutes before collecting product water.

My psi is at 42 and I've read that ideally you want to have it around 60 is that right? Also is it true that some carbon cartridges don't remove both chlorine and chloramine? I'm current using the one sold by spectrapure

Yes, you want the psi higher. spectrapure's .5 carbon does remove some chloramine.

Spectrapure does make a filter called chlorkiller, but it's not listed on their website and I don't know if it also removes as much chlorine as carbon. I'd call them tomorrow and ask.

Is there an all in one carbon cartridge that will get me near or at zero chlorine and chloramine?

Carbon does remove Chloramine it breaks the bond between Ammonia and Chlorine. Chlorine is trapped by Carbon and Ammonia is remove by DI resign. This is why you will see and are seeing some new thicker Carbon Blocks to deal with the process of breaking the bond. BRS has a nice one and stated in a earlier post SpectraPure has one. Should you get one I would say Yes. This may help.
