I recently purchased a AI Prime HD light for my 24 gallon nano tank. I am not a marine biologist so I am a little uncertain as to what to set each colors intensity at? I want to be able to support a reef, have a blue tint, good shimmer and grow coralline algae on my rocks. Anybody have any suggestions for height of of the light and intensity settings for each of the colors?

There's no objective standard for color. Folks mostly set their lights how they think they look good.

I would turn up the blues and whites – the core of your lights - until they look good to you. If you can turn up the other colors without making it look funny, go ahead, but do it in moderation. Also remember to set it and forget it....corals will not be happy if the lights get tweaked on a regular basis. :)

Also, if you haven't run a search on the forum for your lights, do it! ;) You'll probably find some nice example tanks you do and don't like the looks of and hopefully you can compare their settings! :)

BTW, if you still want to be objective, you can use a light meter to set the overall intensity of your lights, whatever colors you pick.

You can get a free lux meter app for your smart phone to play with (and I would recommend it!), but I would also suggest at least ordering a $10-$20 handheld lux meter. That's $10-$20 delivered, so it's cheap! Try looking up the one that I use....it's a model "LX-1010B". Nothing special. I use it all the time. :) If you want something more, you can opt for a waterproof model or even to upgrade to a PAR meter. Good options, but they're a lot more expensive and I haven't found either to be necessary yet.
