Spiked Coraline

I have the same thing is some places w/o worm calcium carbonate shells. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. The LFS guy said it was branching coraline and he has had it in his system for a long time but has not seen it very many other places.

There are kinds of branching coralline. But the photo above is not one of those. It's just vermentids.
 
Not the best picture but best I can do with an IPhone.

It's structure is thinner at the base and slightly expands as it grows up.
The coralline dots behind the main cluster stick off the rock approx 1/4 in.

I also have this coralline algae that looks different than the first. To me this looks like it is encrusting a dead cyphastrea coral but who knows.
