I found this weird spiky orange thing sitting in a bucket of revive that came out from a dip but it was still alive and reacted when I grabbed it with tweezers 2 hours later! what the heck is this creepy critter?

Also found this interesting blue amphipod I thought was cool, assuming and hoping it’s not actually a baby mantis shrimp lol

Anyone know what this is? It’s so creepy!

a really shrunken up bristle worm.

probably reaction to the dip.
I saw several bristle worms come out from the dip and even when retracted they didn’t look anything like this thing. It came out looking exactly the same, never squiggled or anything. Unless it’s a different kind I’ve never seen. It has fewer more defined spikes. Moved like a flatworm/slug.

do those spiky things stay spiky when it's in water? they kind of look like bristles when out of water and the surface tension bundles them together.

Yes they’re spikes, not bunched up bristles. It’s so hard to take a decent photo but they look the same in the water and out. And they’re very hard, don’t budge when I touch them with tweezers

I think with few more photos will be better to can ID it, it look a bit wired I was think about some copepod SP ..., but really never seen anything like it, at least no orange color.
#reefsquad ?

WOW! That orange spiked critter might be one to bring up on WetWebMedia. Email them and send some photos from all angles and a detailed description to [email protected]

Thanks for the Answer @P-Dub it sound like something rare !?
Just curious, any idea what it can be ?

For a moment I was think of ISOPOD, one of this bad which attach them self to fish or other crustaceans ?

Cool! I’ll break out the decent camera and try to take some better photos - good thing I saved it! Assuming it’s not a bad guy, at least I hope, but very weird to say the least!

Sorry never seen before.

If you still have it, is it in water? I'd be interested to see it alive and moving around.

Doesn't look like an isopod to me. More like a worm of some sort. But a strange one!

I thought flesh type limpet but neither limpet or chiton
Im convinced it is the family of nudibranch

I wonder if it is a type of Chiton? Does it have eight separate shell plates?
The chitons don't have this spiky/bristle like stuff on them(or at least I haven't see any with), the isopods are more close, some of them have.

@lba4590 can you get some video how it's moving Please like @Tired mention it?
