Hi All,

So I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on fish food, specifically the mix of dry and frozen. Some of the fish I plan on having eat a mix of meaty foods, and some eat a mixture of meaty foods with the recommendation of adding spirulina a few times a week. My plan was to use LRS reef frenzy and also a flake or pellet food for diversity of diet. My question is, should I use LRS, a dry food, plus a spirulina supplement and alternate through the week? Or should I use LRS and dry fish food that has a decent amount of spirulina in it? I wouldn't want to give spirulina alone as just a main food source, but also wonder if the dry fish food has enough spirulina in it to be beneficial? I was looking at NLS Thera-A, or Cobalt Mysis and Spirulina. Thoughts on what all to get?

but also wonder if the dry fish food has enough spirulina in it to be beneficial?
yes, you nailed it. LRS is best. its also recommended by them to not rinse as it has no yucky preservatives, it contains small plankton gut loaded w spirulina.

So realistically, if I am using LRS exclusively then I would not need to add a dry foods or spirulina supplements? Or would you still use a dry food but only to change it up every once in a while?

Correct. but you are also correct on food diversity. once you get more animals you may want to try other foods out. Animals all have different sized mouths.
We used to use Marine fusion almost exclusivly and on the week end have silverside sunday. big meaty snaks for the tank inhabitants.
check out Paul B here on the board. he also uses fresh clams and black worms stuff like that.
Its not a bad Idea to have an auto feeder w dry and feed wet in the evening. And as always just make sure you dont over feed.

Yep, these are just mine, theres other info out there from far better sources. its fun read up on.

It is! I feel like I've spent at least 4 hours a day over the last couple weeks just reading, and the more I learn the less I'm sure about the best to do it haha!

Read Paul B, first hes funny as heck, second hes got some good points. Third you forget to worry if your doing it wrong.
and its funny as heck when folks treat him like an old fart and then he kung Fu's them with real documented hard core science.
search the bords here with Paul B

He is an old fart too.
