Hello R2R,

I am new to the forum but have a great question for you open tank guys. How do you prevent your fully open top tank from splashing in the case of an earthquake or tremor. All the reef lids I’ve seen online are netted. I understand the importance of having proper gas exchange happen on the surface of the tank. but let’s say a quake happens, what’s to stop your tank from spilling 1/3 of it’s contents onto your wooden floors?

OT, does anyone know of a Red Sea fully acrylic or plastic , or glass lid. Just something that fully covers the top of the tank.

I'm curious to see what others have to say.
I don't see any kind of lid stopping a tank from doing what it will during a quake.
Water is pretty forceful and could easily pop a lid off a tank.
I have a canopy about 9" tall and it MAY be able to keep some of the water from hitting the floor.

I think you'd be better off spending your time thinking about how to secure your tank's stand to the wall if you're worried about a 'quake.
