Splendid Dottyback Aggressiveness

Elongate Dottyback is the least aggressive of Dottybacks. I had one with a Clownfish once and the clown was beating up on him so I got rid of the clown. Cute little fish with bright red color. I greatly enjoyed him. They are kinda hard to find though. If I can find another, I'd jump on it!

He's featured in this video starting at 1:10. He was asleep in the rock but I guess I woke him up with my phone's light and then he was hanging out for the video! :D

theres not much that can beat the intense coloration of an orchid dottyback. if its the last fish added, youll be just fine with it. i would also recommend an elongate dottyback if youre not too picky about color, theyre much more peaceful and have a more subtle beauty to them.

but you wont be disappointed if you get an orchid dottyback.

For blennys, I have a tailspot and a flametail.

I also had a flametail in my prior tank. Eel like in how they swim.

Orchid dotyback IS the least aggressive overall, but of course there are exceptions.

I’m considering adding one to my tank.

I also have a trio of zebra barred dartfish.

Have you looked at the blue gudgeon dart fish? Hi

So I am making progress narrowing down a stock list for my new 32G Biocube, thanks to everyone here for their help in that lol.

Tell me about the splendid Dottyback... about half of what I read says people do not have issues with them, the other half says they are evil jerks. I really like the fish and the colors would tie in with what I’m looking at, but in such a small tank a true ******* would just make any other fish hide away.

I would like to keep a blue assessor (3” max) and a pink streaked wrasse (2”) as well as some small Blenny, leaning towards tails pot but still not totally decided on that.

Thoughts?

Annnnndddd... GO lol
Mine is bullying my full size melanrus wrasse and my 3" scopas tang, and almost killed my pearly jawfish so i have him in a diy tank cage to separate him, should i reintroduce him or just sell him.
