Splicing palys

DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT READING UP ON PALY TOXIN!!!

Soooo I got bored and my tank tests came out perfect so I had nothing reefy to do. I had done some reading in the past of ways people have tried to morph palys by cutting in different ways. So I decided to have my own go at it. I had to large palys that have been dragging their *** in coloring up. I had my own method I wanted to try. I cut the biggest paly off each plug and sliced down the middle then I took a straw and cut a portion off just long enough to cover the palys. I took half of one paly and half the other and slid them into the straw. It was a pretty good it. Super glued the bottom and stuck it on a rock. I made 2 but the first I was a little messy so I trashed it.

I'm not expecting this to really work but like I said. I was bored haha.

Anyone else ever think on this subject?

Tonight was messy. I highly doubt it will make it. My razor blade was dull and I had no idea what to expect. I'm grabbing a scalpel to do the next one. Even a fresh razor isn't sharp enough to lightly slice the flesh. I had to apply to much pressure.

You might try a straight razor.That would slice through it like butter with out putting any pressure.Good luck with your experiment!!!!

You should be good so long as you didn't ingest any of its juices or get them in a cut or eyes.I read about a guy whose dog got into some water contaminated with Z/P toxins and the poor thing bit the dust!

Ive seen this done with purple deaths and nuclear greens before, its pretty cool.

THere are tons of stories out there. Rule of thumb, the uglier the paly the more dangerous the toxin.

It always seems to be the ones that look like purple deaths or Texas trash. The flatter types with the weird skirt.

I saw a brand new 0 comment user on dfwmas looking for Texas trash and I had to wonder if they had some plans on using them outside of the aquarium.

Yep I've seen it before..very cool. Of course..they wont grow with that coloration, so you'll just have 1 polyp like that..but like I said..very cool lol
