Split Rings for holding PVC

So I think I need to use split rings to hold some of my PVC, where I can only mount found the braces on my stand and the PVC is higher.

I know I need to use the split rings, but I don't get how they work, I know I am feeling dumb, but what do I screw info the split ring, and how do I attach it on the back of my stand that wood?

Isn't there a hole in the split ring where you put a screw?
