Spong in Sump

Have some kind of sponge growing in my sump. Do I try to remove it or is this a good thing ?

Unless it starts clogging up equipment/plumbing, it’s harmless/beneficial. Personally, I’d keep it; a few members here on R2R intentionally keep sponges to have their sump act as a cryptic refugium.

I have a bunch of different types of sponge in my sump.
I generally let it stay until I do a deep cleaning. ( return and skimmer area of the sump)

Thanks guys I just cleaned the opening to the refuge and left the rest.
