Sponge? Alien artefact?

So I found something weird growing right next to a big sponge.

It is a transparent orb that contains what looks like a lobed brain which is more or less symmetric radially and has a single opening in the center of symmetry. Approximately 4 to 6 mm in diameter. ****** drawings from side and front relative to opening included.

I have never before seen a sponge or tunicate like this, anyone got any ideas?

I tried my best. The photos are lti bymy phones light, i had to stick my head and arm between the wall and the tank to get this shot, take it from an angle through the glass, and it doesn't get any light from the top.

Oh dang yeah I hate those spots. Luckily I’ve got a peninsula now so I don’t deal with them as often

Looks like it could be a form of a star tunicate.

Aren't those flat oval disks? This is a proper round ball and what I presume to be the opening isn't perpendicular to the rock either

Or is there some special form of them like that

There are many varieties. Some are more rounded. But not sure that this is one for sure.
