Just woke up today to find that my chalice fell on top of my favia and almost destroyed it. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to help it recover? Or will it recover on its own? Also does amyone know what this stringy looking thing is? I just removed a few pineapple sponges because they were irritating my zoas. I'm not sure if I should scrape this off or leave it.

id just leave it be, it will recover. messing it with it further will stress it more. the white clump looks like sponge/filter feeders to me. Id also leave it. if you are getting that much sponge growth, your may want to up your flow and lights slightly. should encourage them to move elsewhere.
