For the purposes of battling large amphidinium what’s the generally accepted dosing strategy? Start with what the bottle says? I’m not going to be buying a test kit. Just planning on keeping track of the diatom bloom by looking at glass and sand samples with a microscope. Also want to start slow as to not shock any sps.

I followed the instructions in the bottle. Ramped up slowly.
Good luck beating them!

Without a test kit, I would use half the dose stated above and work your way up from there. After following the recommended amount, on day 7, my silicate was well over 2.0ppm. It took about 5 days of not dosing to come back down below 2.0ppm.

Note: Diatoms look a lot like dinos, which can look like nothing is progressing even though it is.

I have a pretty good microscope as of today. Even with the crappy microscope it seemed pretty easy to tell them apart.
