sponge filter with air for quarantine tank?

I plan to use a 10 gallon tank for fish quarantine (small fish that will go in a 33 gallon cube DT). Three questions:

1. It seems a sponge filter is perfectly fine for a saltwater quarantine tank, correct? (Some internet discussions seem to cast doubt on sponge + salt water, that they are only suited for fresh water)

2. Assuming #1 is "yes", is it ok to use a sponge filter sized for a 10 gallon tank in a 10 gallon tank, or am I better off upsizing (eg. to one "spec'd" for a 20 gallon).

3. Again, assuming #1 is ok, is it ok to keep spare sponge filters in my sump if I occasionally squeeze them out in water change water to remove stuff collected in them? Presumably they won't collect anywhere near as much as say a filter sock, because they will just sit in a chamber not being used, to be pulled out pre-conditioned for use in the quarantine when necessary (biologically loaded with ammonia eating bacteria)?

Some use them, some do not. IME, I have a bare qt if I am using meds. No sand, rock, sponge, anything. I want the meds to be used not absorbed. CP has that issue. Now, I do use and airstone.
Some qt's (like the one I run now), is not bare as I have a wrasse in there I want eating really well and growing before I think of medicating. So, she has live rock and a large sand bed.
I do not any longer use sponge from my main tank (unless I am setting up a qt similar to the wrasse). I do not seed it or make it cycled in any way.
What fish are you getting? I love that you are qting as so many fish have issues these days. So different than 15 years ago it seems.

I use foam bubble filters in all of my QTs. And soaking them in the sump as well. Also keep a foam pad from an Aquaclear HOB in there too. Plus a mesh bag filled with either Seachem Matrix or Fluval Biomax soaking too.
