So I have a sponge growing on my clam. I haven't noticed until now for some reason but now I have noticed. . .

Scrap it off or leave it go?

If you can get a different angle image that would help. A Vermetid would definitely irritate a clams mantle.

Thanks man won't be back home for another 10 hours but will post another angle, what angle would you think would help identify?

ATM it doesn't appear to be effecting the mantle but I may be on the safe side and just remove it

A simple way to clarify is just touch it. Sponge easily crumbles, a Vermetid shell is hard and not easily removed.

This is a photo looking down ontop it with whiter light. It felt responsible firm to touch. I'm not too familiar with sponges so can't compare but would imagine it would be softer than what I felt.

After googling I'm pretty sure your right on the Vermetid snail. I'm gonna plan to get rid of it on The Weeknd when I have time on my hands to take care of it properly. Thanks for your help!
