Recently had a go around with the turkey made Tropic Marin pro reef salt. Most everything went downhill. Noticed torch looking pretty receded.

Removed today and dipped in Coral RX pro and removed the white cotton like fuzz. Maybe a sponge? I have a few pineapples around the tank. Or could this be brown jelly? Looks more brown in the pics than in person.

Parameters

Salinity 1.025
NO3 - 40 ppm (bringing down with 50% WC)
PO4 - 0.05
Alk - 8.5 dKh

Does the coral stink to high heaven Hard to say from the photos. Reef Shot Primer can apparently treat BJD, so that's an option if you want to re-dip.
No objective smell IMO. Only off smell is the green slime algae I'm currently working on.

I dipped coral RX and cleaned the skeleton with a toothbrush. I'll check tomorrow for improvement. I'll look into reef shot primer just in case.

Unfortunately I always take high quality photos but they look blurry when uploading. I might be doing something wrong.

The last time I caught BJD on one of my hammers it was fairly easy to spot. There was a pinkish/brown slime around the base of the polyps and in-between, and when removing the coral it just stank. Sometimes it's hard to catch, as in this case it went from fine to BJD basically overnight while I slept.

Tip for removing BJD corals: use paper towel to reach in and grab them with. That way, you minimize how much slime (etc.) can potentially fall off and infect other corals (friend of mine who's been in the hobby for many years gave me this tip).
