Sponge on Frogspawn

I believe this is just a sponge and shouldn't worry but want your thoughts.

This Frogspawn has been half closed for a few weeks now. I thought it was due to one of the heads splitting, but I took him out and found a bunch of vermetid snails. Got rid of those guys and a few days later it's still the same. Saw this today. Want to rule this out before I relocate it in the take to see if I can find a new home

Looks like sponge. Can scrape it off.
