Came in on a dead stick of acropora that had a hand full of bam bam Zoas on it. I’m getting them to grow over it. Looks pretty cool. This guy is growing at the end of it. Anyone know what it is? I’m thinking an algae mostly because it is in a high light spot and sponges don’t like that so much! Also I just fed the SPS so the water is a little cloudy sorry

You can’t tell from the picture but it is bright red!

check with fingers, if you are able to pill it off easy (or with tweezers), and come as net/cover the rock, then it's red ciano bacteria (bad "algae")
Some sponges don't have a problem with bright light at all xD (have yellow one on a rock under very bright light)

Luckily I can say certainly that it is not cyano! Though it does pop up from time to time in the sand but that’s natural. This is more rigid than cyano would be and more brilliantly colored. Tomorrow I’ll get a pic which better lighting

So you are lucky one if it's not cyano bacteria :)

Yep.., that with the better pictures/photos can do the job for you, otherwise only experts (probably) will be able to identify the stuff xD

Lucky bugger. I love that stuff. It’s hard to get in Melbourne. I had a golf ball size bit on a Xmas worm rock and my cuc scoffed it ;Drowning

Soon I'll go rid of the Tuxedo Urchin.., because of that reason...., it took off almost all the coraline (which I love, now have to reseed), it brake down 2 good peaces of LR covered with different type of macro algae..., can't put/plant the shaving brush in the tank (have to keep it in a basket on top in the tank)..., what else to say.... CUC, some times good, some times bad for other stuff xD
