Yup, it's a type of sponge, I have something similar in my tank.

Sponges are generally a good thing and a sign of a healthy system there are cases where the sponge has overgrown its boundaries and bothers coral, but sponges are easily scraped away

We have a yellow/orangeish variant of that sponge in Florida, I believe it's called the Sun Sponge very fast grower IME
