Sponge Type & Growth

I had this sponge show up a cple months back about the size of a nickle, now it is larger then 2 silver dollars side to side. I've already had to move a coral that I was worried about it growing over & am wondering if I should move the rock to my sump or just remove the sponge itself. I've had other sponge before but they never got this big this fast.

Just remove the sponge.

What's the best way to do that, the rock is at the bottom of my landscape so I would have to tear it down.

I would reach in with my scalpel or similiar tool ,get under it and pry off. Flat head screwdriver would work as well. Make sure theyre clean.
