Hi everyone.

New to the hobby. Have a JBJ45 up and running about 8 months now. Fish had a Brooklyella outbreak, so currently bathing them in Formaldehyde and quarantining in hospital tank for next 6 weeks.

As the tank is empty of fish, I redid some landscaping. On the back of a blue anthellia frag, I found this growing. From what I can tell from looking around.. I think it's a sponge? Can anyone confirm? And is it anything I should be concerned about, or just free parking?

Not sure if the img is uploading correctly so link below as well.

Thanks!

Yes, that's a sponge. I wouldn't be concerned. If it happens to grow too big in the future or crowds something, you can just pull it off then.

I just got on my PC from my iPhone and I may change my mind about my answer now that I can see it a little more clearly. Do you think you could grab another picture?

Tunicate.

I don't think so. It doesn't seem to have a pronounced end on it. Both ends are dull and just look like openings to a soft hose. Looks like jellyfish "material".

I have to say, it sounds like you are describing a tunicate. With that "jellyfish material" I'm pretty sure that's what it is, especially if it has 2 siphons only.

I honestly have no doubt that it's safe, because it's going to be either a sponge or a tunicate.
