Sponge?

I’m thinking maybe a chicken liver sponge, but not sure. Appeared and has grown very little over several months. The one of top seems to be almost just sitting on top of the LR. (Like I could pick it off) There is another just below which seems to be a bit more encrusted.

I’ve read mixed reviews on sponges and corals coexisting. Primarily that sponges are toxic and inhibit coral growth.

My goal in the next few months is to start introducing corals to my tank.

Is this unproven? Should I remove these sponges? Any idea of what type of sponge this is?

I wouldnt worry about them unless they start over growing corals.
