So question on this old thread. This thing is growing like wild fire. To the point acan wont open, and its growing onto my frag rack.

Is there a name to this guy? And are they bad in the sense of how quickly it spreads?

Some of them can be aggressive in their growth. I’ve tweezed off sponges that were getting out of control.

Sponge growth is generally seen as a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. IE growing over a coral. It's hard to ID exactly what type this is, but again most are not really that invasive. That being said if it's bothering your coral you can just remove it with tweezers. If it was growing on rock I would suggest just leaving it alone, but even as a good filter feeder if it's irritating the coral it's not doing you or the coral any good.
