Hi. So I was reading up on one of my Zoanthids. I read that sponges can choke the life out of them. The Zoas are on a small rock. They are Grandis Palys. But the yellow sponge is on half of the rock and wrapped around the stalks of some of the polyps. Do I need to remove the sponge and what is a good way to do it?

Probably. Just a flat sponge. Yellow. On top and bottom. I took it off. Probably didn't need to

Most of those are harmless Clathrina clathrus sponges.
Yeah I think I killed a harmless sponge. It was wrapped around the bases of the grandis stems. I read sponges can choke the polyp. Wouldn't it choke it if it was wrapped around the base? Does it have to be venemous to choke it?

There are sponges that can do that (google Terpios hoshinota if you want to see a horror story), but the common Yellow Lace Sponge isn't one of them.
