Sponges or something else?

These started off as just two orange spheres under my duncans and have relatively quickly become a big pest. They can be plucked off and have a sponge-like texture but don't show the tendencies to only grow in the shade like traditional sponges.

I would love it if someone can ID them for me and then the next step is either getting something that will eat them or figure out how to remove them.

Let's have it experts, what say you? :)
