Sponges

I've had some success with sponges but when I redid my tank I didn't put any in because I'd read that they give off toxins that will affect surrounding corals. Has anyone experienced this? I really would like to add a few but I don't want to stress out the other corals.

Boy I have sponges growing in all shapes and sizes throughout different reef tanks. I’ve never experienced them bothering the corals but the sponges are also all located in shadowy low light parts of the tanks where the corals I keep don’t live. Lots of overhangs and crevices is where I find the sponges.
