Just curious, when I go to drop spongexcel into my tank, my fish go crazy for it.

What is this stuff ? Should I drop into sump rather than in tank ?

Should my skimmer and UV be off ?

I’m trying to raise silicate

Are you talking about the Brightwell product?

Assuming so, I'd add it to a sump or other place with high flow to dissolve it rapidly and not be eaten.

I'd be a little concerned about the health of a fish eating the high pH chunks that initially form, and I'm not sure if they excrete if back out in a still useful form (silicate).

That was my concern. At first I was like oh it must be like a sponge and just return back to provide me what I need but that’s why I came here ! I was hoping you would respond haha

Thank you , do you know if the uv and skimmer need to be off?
