I’m referring to the little moon shaped thing behind the gill. This is my first fish. So I don’t know what I should do.

Maybe I should add that he is doing great otherwise. Eating and swimming just fine. He’s not dead in the photo....I just scooped him to get a good photo. Hope I didn’t startle anyone.
