Hello,

I have an emperor angel in QT. Can anyone identify these spots on her tail? I see no spots on the body, yet.

Thanks!

no - not completely at this point - it would be lymphocystis - but - there are multiple spots throughout the fin - and the picture is a little unclear. It could be Lymphocystis + cryptocaryon as well - are you using a medicated QT? Have the spots changed over the last couple days, etc. If you're doing the QT per the protocol on the site - you should have copper in the water at the proper dose - and that should take care of the issue if it's cryptocaryon. If lymphocystis - it's a virus - should recover with nothing. I would continue your QT protocol. If the spots do not change location - that suggests lymphocystsis - if they do that suggests Cryptocaryon (Ich) - hope this helps

I’d agree it looks like lympho - more pics would help to rule out any ich.
Is the fish acting off at all?
Lympho shows up pretty commonly in new angels.

+1 on the three spots at the lower rear of the tail being the start of Lymphocystis, no worries there, it will go away (but might get worse first).

The more diffuse spots in the middle of the fin could be ich. Is the fish in copper? If not, it should be at a full dose of either coppersafe or copper power.

Very typical with large angels and many butterfly fish
