I noticed these spots on one of my clownish the other day. The fish seems healthy and is not acting any differently than normal. Eating like a pig and swimming activly.

Does anyone know what these black spots are or if they are a problem?

It is quite common for Clown fish to present with black spots (hypermelinization) after exposure to corals that the Clown does not normally reside in. To build up the mucous layer on the surface of the skin the Clown must repeatedly expose the surface to coral or anemone. Many times this is corals of the Euphyllia genus, Torch, Hammer and Frogspawn. It's easy to see why a Clown might try to take up residents as the corals looks like a Clowns natural host, but come with powerful sweeper tentacles.
Here's a quote I found. Any corals in your tank?

There's a zoa frag behind the clown in his second picture, so he has corals. I don't know if he has corals of the euphyllia genus.

Yes I do have coral in my tank. Mostly Euphyllia so what you guys are saying makes sense.

So since the clown is proably just rubbing up against corals and getting stung its nothing to worry about?

Natural pigmentation over time. I have a few naked-ocellaris that now having black freckeling/peppering
