Spotted Scorpion Fish

Is hypos salinity (.009) still an effective method for ich? I know some people has success with this method years ago. It’s a huge tank (8 ft x 2 ft x 2 with over 200 pounds of rock so it would be a major project to remove fish for copper treatment. I haven’t observed labored breathing or scraping in either fish. Trigger eats like a hog, scorpion took shrimp from tongs this morning.

This tank has the following fish:
Spotted Scorpion
Blue Dot Puffer
Snowflake Eel
Pink tail trigger
Red tooth Trigger
Convict Tang
Sailfin Tang
Maroon Clown
Lunar Wrasse

No inverts or coral.

Yes, hyposalinity is a viable option for you. It also has the added benefit of controlling flukes - just in case that is the issue. Here is my post about hypo:

Still in the process of bringing the system down to hypo salinity levels but was able to get a couple of better pictures of the trigger to attempt to confirm the ich diagnose. I also included an overall picture of the tank.

Pics somewhat fuzzy but I’m seeing bacterial tufts

The spots on the body aren’t ich, in the earlier photo I was looking more at the spots on the fins.

Tank has been at hypo since yesterday. Noticed this in the scorpion fishes right eye. Concerned that wouldn’t be caused by flukes or ich. Maybe Injury? The eyeball also seems sunken in compared to the other.

Not sure what I’m looking at - is the cornea of the eye missing?

Eye is infected and often this happens when left untreated after injury. Have you treated it as previously suggested, since suggested? Ethromyacin is best bet at this point if it hasn't become accelerated using Maracyn AKA maracyn 1 or seachem Kanaplex ASAP for at least 5 days

I have followed the treatment suggested by Jay. Just noticed this eye a little while ago as the area of the tank that the scorpion fish stays in that eyes faces the back of the back. The tank is hypo at .009 for ich and hypo treatment as jay said what would be viable in my situation. Can something like Ethromyacin be use with the hypo salinity? Also need something that would be safe with eels in the system.

That’s what it appears
I’ve seen that happen from flukes as well as secondary bacterial infections (and those often go hand in hand) I’ve never seen it grow back though.

Well the hypo should treat the flukes, as well as ich if he has that, correct? What about bacterial infections? Will the hypo treat the bacterial as well or should I treat the system with some type of meds?

I never treat in hypo.
