Is it ok to place various Acro frags close by each other? When they eventually grow, will the weave or will they sting each other?

Same thing for montipora. Can these be places close by?

Also, what is the best place to place them? Mid to high level in tank where they can get good lighting? What about flow? Should I point flow right at them?

Give all acros ample room to grow. There can be coral warfare with some corals stinging or overgrowing others to death. Same with monties. Most, but not all across like TONS of flow, but not aimed directly at them. Depending on the species of Acro, 350 par is just fine, meaning strong, but not blasting lighting.

Give enough room to grow. They will eventually compete against Each other.

What so you consider enough room. I have small frags. Like 5 to 6 inches of room or can I do less?

Well, give enough room to where they can grow and branch out. Just know, once they touch each other they will sting each other, so you will need to trim.

5"-6" will not be enough. You will want more like 8"-10" would be better unless you really like fragging your Acro's. What you will run into, is some may grow faster than others and will potentially shadow the slower grower.

Plating Monti's you can let them grow, but they will grow around an Acro and will sooner or later just smother it out due to shadowing most of the growth. This is what I have now with a Red Plating Monti and a WWC Hyper Pink Milli.

Oh the other thing is to know what type of Acro you have. Table vs. Branch (wide or narrow growth), as you keep this in mind you will want to place your table acro's lower or in area's that will not over shadow your other types.
