Hello community,

sorry for my bad English ✌

I have a question, I like easy reefing, and I also hate extrem measuring or weekly ICP.

So my 29g SPS Tank is running with All for Reef. I hope its known in the US. It is working great, but it is an All in One product, so in the ICP not everything is perfect, because every tank consumes the nutrients different. Some people use single product to measure every single thing and correct it.

My Idea is, keeping everthing stable with all for reef, and make weekly WC to equalize everything which is not 100 perfect. Is that a good strategy?

Should be fine! Just keep a eye on your mag as it seems to drop with all 4 reef.. I’m having to add mag with it to keep it all good..

Calcium can build up faster than alkalinity can keep up with using AFR..so I've read. Keep an eye on that and maybe dose alk if necessary to supplement. There's plenty of AFR users that could advise better than me about it.

10% weekly WC is the general rule of thumb. However with AFR you'll probably be running into issues at some point with some levels dropped very low not getting replenished quickly enough (mag from what I've heard), and others (usually calcium) getting very elevated.

A friend of mine doses AFR and he counteracts this by periodically doing a very large volume (75%+) water change to basically reset the parameters back to normal salt levels on top of what I think are 5% weekly water changes. He could dose AFR for a very long time until eventually his mag would be too low for comfort and his calcium would be very elevated. Then he would do the large water change.
