Hi , so im back with another tread ...

I was struggling to get my sps to color up , everyone suggested i should drop my phosfates 0.16 and nitrates 2ppm , i dropped it to 0.02 and 0.5< ppm and nothing changed , startex adding reef energy , nothing on sps but on zoas i could see alot of changes . Since then i went back to basics , stopped nopox , feeding more often . Phos 0.16 again and nitrates was a bit higher at 3ppm . My acro is coloring up , lps is really looking great .....

But....

Since i started with a pink birdsnest under 6xt5 ati it did not get much color at all , in the newer tank under leds where it was a saved birdsnest bleached but it started to recover . Now after all these months , its growing great and has a green tint but not getting pink. What could be the cause ?

Its a 60cm cube , zetlight zt6500, 4000lph wavemaker , 2500lph return , curve 5 skimmer , cheato refugium . Tank is about 6 months old , 25l wc weekly , dosing abc+ and adding alkilinity extra

Usually pink corals require 10K ish lighting to stay pink. They usually turn purple und 2ok.
Also you may wan to add some iron if you are low to get some coloration up.

Increase your red and uv channels a bit. I think pink coloration needs a warmer spectrum. Keep an eye on algae :D
I'm afraid I've never seen anything ever about light increasing pink. Ive seen pink under 14k and 24k MH as well as a lot of different combos of t5.

May be I am wrong. I am merely giving another option to OP an area to look at in achieving his goal.

Oh ok. I'm just letting you know from my experience. When I had MH's back in the day 20k radiums with actinics..... I could take any pink birds nest coral home and it would turn purple. Started talking to other people and they experienced the same issue.
You may read up on some supplements that might help you.

I have a pink birdsnest and my parameters are about the same as yours. I have radions at about 50%. I also don't think yours is a pink one. Maybe the green with purple polyps.

Oh I get it. High par on a brown coral yes. But its a green birdsnest.

And setting the uv and red higher I don't think will help. and were all in it to learn, so just asking questions too.

Differences in coloration under different color spectrum...

what are the two spectrum changes pictured there? did par change?

Saltyfilmfolks, not sure about par (maybe slight changes) as i just swap a few LEDs (4 cool white with deep red, 6 warm white with amber) and it does affect coral coloration (very significant on SPS).

Yeah its a green for sure. Don't think you can get that one pink. I think there is a pink one with green polyps though.

FWIW,and as I understand it. whiter colors(14k mh ) have more par than blue(20kmh) at the same intensity. Same goes for led. single colors will have less par than combined("white")

And I do like to clarify often as some folks will just say its under a MH or radon. Its apples and bananas. or actually Apple and Apples.

Yea I believe under high light it gets a pink skin.

I did take some readings on my phone (using light scale apps), before changing the leds i am getting 92k LUX. After the transition, 84k LUX.
