Purchased a diamondback goby a month ago and hes been doing a great job cleaning my sandbed except that he kicks up soo much stuff while hes doing it.. My LFS said it will all clear in a week or two from my socks and carbon reactor, but its been a month and the water is still dirty as hell .. My question is will this debris in the water affect or irritate the SPS I have in the tank??? .Should I return him and get a fighting conch, sea star, and sea cucumber instead ?? Thanks for the help..Aloha!

I have a dragon wrasse constantly flipping on the sand, no problem so far. As long as your wavemakers are creating strong flow it shouldn't choke your corals. Infact, all the fine particles of detritus are good for corals as supplemental food.

Is it always cloudy? I get intermittent sand storms every now and then and it doesn't seem to affect my sps. Like Donovan mentioned, it may be good for the sps since it'll act like a supplement with nutrients kicked up into the water column.

Dragon wrasse is very active sand flipping and rocks moving machine. The only time I don't see sand storm is when he is sleeping. My SPS dominated tank is doing fine...

Oh, goodness... that is an awesome looking tank! And definitely reassuring, knowing that your sps are absolutely fine.

Between my leopard and melanarus wrasses and my algae blenny and yellow goby, I get regular sandstorms. Never had an issue.
