how many of you mount your sps frags straight up and down vs sideways and does it depend on type of coral ?

Generally, straight up/down. But like @Duffer there are times that it visually makes sense to glue it on a slope. There is a lot of rock space that is not horizontal space.

Also there are times when I am trimming/fragging that I glue the piece "laying down" on the tile. It has a larger surface area getting light that way and seems to launch a little faster that way.

i do side way as much as possible, acros like to have a base before grow tall.

Doesn't matter they'll grow however you mount. This frag was mount upside down.

But if you mount them matching the way they were already growing they'll adapt faster.

An old school tip is to mount sticks horizontal or slightly angled down............this is how everyone mounted Acro frags for a long time.

You'll get faster growth as you are allowing the frag to accept more light to a larger surface area.

This is the same rule with purchasing frags...........nab the pieces that are encrusted flat or laying down.

You want slow growth............point the stick straight up like a little tree:D
