All I can say is I have a monti cap I can't kill lol. I want to throw it in the trash lol. You should check out my build thread and read the part about dinos, hair algae, no water changes for 2 months, no parameter testing and no alk dosing for 30 days. Stylos, acros, and monti all survived without issues. Well, except for two stylos stn'ing but that started almost 3 months ago and they are still alive.

I'm curious to see where this goes. My tank is currently all lps and softies except for one small frag of digi. If the digi does well I'll get more colors to line the top of my rock line and fill the bottom with more lps and softies. I love being able to toss them on the sand and let them grow.

I can attest to montipora caps can become a problem as they can grow quickly. I foresee that with my red montipora cap soon. I'll frag anything that will become a problem, within reason.

My digitata's are starting to look at each other like "let's fight!". That's partially my fault due to thinking they would all grow "upwards"! Should have spaced them out more, too late for that.

Acro's can be a mixed bag, especially if wild. Hit or miss. Light acclimation, especially with them, is very important.

Going "mixed" is roll of the dice due to "chemical warfare" or " I'm upset, puke!" and how the other hard corals respond to their actions. GAC is your friend with "mixed" tanks.

Yesh, I expect my digi to grow upward as well. We'll see... I'm not shooting for mixed by my terms but maybe (and probably) I'm wrong. I figure a few strategically placed shrooms and zoas wouldn't hamper on my LPS theme too much. And if they do, to the curb they go. I really want a euphyllia garden that is substantial in size. And I'm gonna do it on a peninsula to increase my viewing real estate.

I'm really looking for another torch to balance my tank out. I have a frogspawn I got the size of a golf ball that's easily baseball sized now a month later so lps really like my tank.

Hopefully my acans get the memo.

Fast growing SPS like digitata's can be unpredictable. Plating before sticks or just sticks. I have both.

I do have some softies, in particular a fast growing toadstool leather that is going to be very big soon. It's a small risk to have in with my SPS/LPS, but it's healthy and hopefully my clowns will host it again. Had to frag the mother because it got massive.

Euphyilla torches are my favorite. Want to find a gold one soon.

I almost did the same thing. But I figured out that my salinity was outa wack. I bought calibration fluid for my refractometer and sure enough my salinity was off my 6 thousandths. Whatever sps I didn’t lose completely is coming back.

I'm calibrated. I do it once a month just to make sure but it is always spot on. I handle my refracto very carefully

Man I can't keep the sticks to save my soul. So, I just enjoy them when I take a trip to the LFS... hahaha However, I've always loved the gentle movement of a softie tank. I suffered a heat-related crash earlier this summer but have been slowly bringing it back. There are so many shapes and colors to work with. Here's an ARC (after the crash) pic. I've since added a Sun coral under the Toad stool but there's no room to add so I plan on growing this collection out and upgrading to a 50 gallon in the Spring.

LPS dominant! Love the movement of all the euphyllia. Swaying back and forth bring the tank alive. Just the beginning of my stocking!! Much more euphyllia to come!! Lol

Sounds great. I have an lps tank too, but mostly favias and open brain corals (trachy, scoly, acanthestrea) a few acans too. Oh, and a cool orange hammer just got.

For the person who got the gorg, be careful on placement. Those guys are very toxic to other corals. FYI

There’s a guy in our local club that has a 10ft, 600gal that is all soft corals. It is probably the nicest tank I’ve ever seen, with the most colors and beautiful growth patterns. He also keeps some crazy angelfish that will nip, but because he has so much coral he never worries about it. I’ll see if he’s on here, or maybe I can get his permission to post a pic.
