I’ve had a few frags of purple stylo over the years and what always seems to happen is the base turns white, loses polyps but the rest is fine, good polyp extension and coloration. Has anyone else seen this, and is it a common issue with something like lighting intensity, nutrient level or flow?… all parameters are fine, nutrients are a little high (0.08ppm phosphate and 15ppm nitrate).

Hello,
this situation is always tricky to figure it out… due to the grow, it indeed can be shadowing, lack of flow… or worst case STN.
Regarding the nutrients, if there were always like this, I wouldn’t care about it.

The easiest action is to increase a bit the flow in the area and observe it.

However, if the white part starts to grow more and more (rather fast)… I would cut it (above the dead part) and glue it again.

Best of luck and keep us posted!
