Sps color

Noticed some of my sps are loosing color/ pale. A few months back my pink mili EXPLODED in growth only tested ca/ alk all stable via doser. Tested nitrate today 0.0 phosphate still wanting for my Hanna checker to arrive.

I have a 46 now front mixed reef with a fire shrimp, pistol shrimp , yellow goby, Mandrin have had him for 1.6 years nice and fat , starry blenny , clown fish ,6 line wrasse. Tank eats up 2dkh a day

50 gallon total water
75 gallon rated skimmer
9.5 dkh
420 cal
12”x12”x 9 “ deep fuge 4” deep of Chaeto.
Nitrate 0.00
Just tested nitrate for the first time in a long time.
Lights on 9am to 9pm fuge is on 10pm to 9pm

Feed brine / mysis 2/3 times a week. Coral frenzy at the same time along with pellets for the shrimp and spectrum pellets


Only thing I have changed is a fuge light ufo one and my Chaeto is 4x the size it was 1 month ago.
Need to raise my nitrates a bit any suggestions. Don’t want to just over feed my tank
I already trim my Chaeto back

Have friend with same problem. I suggested to pull filter socks and turn off skimmer. Only changes he has made and is starting to see results two weeks later.

Your water may be too clean, and the corals are starving.
Or you may have pests like AEFW, those can cause corals to lose color too in the beginning.

I don’t run socks. I have thought about pulling my skimmer half the day just messes with the salinity run at 1.025 and it goes down to .23 and up to .26. Plus it doesn’t pull much I can go 2 weeks with out emptying the cup. Also have read up that it helps with the ph of the tank to oxygenate the tank I have never checked the ph. Since I don’t want to “chase” a number. Thanks for the input
