Sps coral dying at the base

My large spa coral is dying at the base and is slowly Receding. I don’t know what I should do. Everything else in the tank is healthy. I don’t know if I should cut that section off?

Looks similar to what I fight in my system. I had 3-4 at startup.
I remove 6-7 every couple weeks.
I have to many to count now.

The problem is they release and float around and kill whatever they land on.
Check my build thread. I have a pick of what it did to a stag.
Not much you can do but most of mine survived. Smaller corals do not recover.

I just looked at my 120 and need to remove more tomorrow.

Should I cut the dead part of the stag? I’m worried it will Continue to reseed

Every coral is different. If its bacterial theirs not much you can do, imo. I have fragged some and they all die or some live.
I have used the coral putty and it has stopped the ones that were stung by mushrooms. I have left others alone and it stopped on its own.
