sps coral scientific name

So, i'm a newbie here, especially in SPS coral.
As far as i know, there are few types of SPS such as Acropora , Monipora, Stylophora...etc.
The question is:
Does people really make up the name for SPS (especially for acro)? i see something like Jasonfox xxx a place that sale coral online being named for Acro, and RR...etc i see so many weird names that I can't even find in the book.
Can someone explain me this?

Simple, they make it their own coral.
In that case if you see the XXXX birthday balloon (just dropping a name here in general ) the linage is traceable too XXXX.
There are many corals on the market with a name any many ppl try to take a advantage of the high $$$$ names.
But I'm with you that because all this you can't see the forest for all the trees.
