So i just bought a frag of SPS to fill my divers den order to get free shipping on a fish. I did a dip in coral RX and some stuff came off it looked like maybe nudi's or flatworms? few pods. Wondering do i still have to QT this frag or did the dip take care of that? I don't really have a QT tank setup but i have my old BC29 that i recently moved everything out from, still have some LR and a few frags in there, however i don't have any controller on it so the heater is just going off the heaters controller.

If it were me... I would remove the remaining Frags in your bc29 and into your new tank as long as they have gone through the necessary QT process. If they have... then I would put your new frag in the bc29 and keep a close eye on it/ your temperature. You definitely want to look at the bottom of the plug and look for AEFW eggs as Coral RX will not kill those. if you MUST put it in your tank then I would cut the frage away from the frag plug. I had to do this yesterday and although it isnt ideal you are still reducing the possibility of putting those hostile creatures in your main display. Just my $.02 and im sure others will chime in. good luck!

When you say bottom of the plug, do you mean the undeside or towards the bottom of the frag? will the eggs actually be on the coral itself or on the ceramic plug? Thank you for your input.

If you have the stuff to QT coral then do it. Not only are you preventing coral parasites from getting into your main tank, but you are also keeping out fish disease that could of came in the water as the frag. You're saving yourself lots of feature headaches by QT corals and fish.

Yes qt would be best! After dealing with aefw previously everything goes through qt for me now. It's not worth introduction of something nasty to the display. If that is not possible then at least cut it off the frag plug and cover any non living tissue with glue.

+1 on quarantining and isolating from previous frags you got. I would quarantine for 2-3 weeks with weekly dips.
I'm starting to believe that coral quarantine should be complemented with a tank transfer as well to avoid ahving the corals reinfected when moved back tot he quarnatine after each dip which lengthens the needed quarantine time and dips,a dding stress to the coral.

Ok now i am even more confused...

First, I thought divers den corals would have been a sure thing healthy and no critters, shows how ignorant I am.

Second, if you place in a qt with lower lighting and poor flow/water quality stability, how is this beneficial. I dip corals, and then let my coris wrasse and 6 lines take care of the rest.

Good luck with the process, i will follow along.

That's a great point you bring up.
But me having done many QT on SPS and still do it ain't necessary.
Most if not all AEFW will hang out on the SPS as we know, it's away of survival for them.
When you don't get a AEFW cause it wasn't on the coral you'll get it the next time with the dip.
Dipping is the key in QT the SPS, every 5 days for the first four weeks and after that every 7 or 8 days for four more weeks to shut it all down.
I do swap out the frag racks the corals are on with every dip and lay them to bake in the sun............ the frag racks of course ;)

True unless if that flatworm breeds before u get it on next dip which extends the cycle a bit more.
They do stay on corals but as we see different colonies affected before one is totally consumed then this means that hey hop from an accro to another.

Correct.
After the second dip you killed by that time all the adults and no new eggs won't appear in that stage.
You still have to deal with existing eggs hatching if you didn't scrape them off but it's save to say after the second and for sure the third dip you broke the cycle.

What part of live aquaria did you order the frag from? Was it wild? Maricultures? Or grown by them? If it's one of their Aquaculture's I would be very disappointed.

If you think it's a safe bet that live Aquaria has no pests think twice. There is no way they can assure us their corals are all clean with all the stock they move. Plus now that ownership switched I would say things went even more down hill.

There are no safe bets for buying acros anyways. I have bought acros from respected members with amazing systems on this site and have ben sold eaten acros with worms on them. You just gotta view everything like it's from a tank with many pests.

Dip at all times, every coral any coral.
If you have no QT leave it on a frag rack in order to dip it again after three days and again after another three days.
Be aware that you rinse it good in a separate bucket of tank water.
