I am planning on changing my 70G rimless planted tank over to an SPS barebottom reef. its 48Lx18Wx19T I'm trying to be slightly budget consious because spending 1800 on 2 radion xr30's kills me inside. Is there a lights that are going to be closer to $1000 or less that would get me to where I need to be? Also theres a chance in the future I would use these on a 180G aquarium so if I can use them on that in the future great if not no biggy.

I have looked at reef breeders but seen some mixed reviews... any help would be great!

Check out illumagic blaze. I have one on my new tank have seen alot of really good things about them. I was in the same boat as you on prices of radions.

Two Viparspectra “165w” leds. They’ll put out more par then you’ll ever need and cost around $140 each. I have three of them over my 187g and they work great, even for sps coral like acropora and anemones too. They’re tried and true lights that many reefers here use.

ive run a 36" ATI 6x 39w t5 and then 2x gen 5 xr15s over this same size tank both options are great for an sps dominant reef

XR30 have a 24” spread so two would be good for 48” but the XR15 has an 18” spread so three XR15 would have enough spread for 48” and cost less than two XR30.
