Is that just special grade sand below the balls in jars on the right?

I am concerned that you might not have enough surface area... lol.

Here is the sump first part…I like sand but can’t use in display because of flow so kept in jars(1$ a jar yes in Dollar tree).Using Seachem matrix and siporax plus 3D printed filter pad from Amazon

This is the way to do it. I didn't have enough at first in mine and the tank stayed hazy for a good 2 months. Looks about the same as yours now though I took the sand I had added out. Couldn't find a place to make it deep enough so I like the jar idea.

Congrats on the REEFER-S 1000! I decided to upgrade from a Reefer 350 to the REEFER-S 850.

Looking for some advice. With my upgrade, I plan on going bare-bottom like you did. My intent was to take BRS' advice and cover the bare bottom with a white 1/8in textured ABS board. Advantages are many... cushion & stability for the rock being primary and a more natural look to mimic sand being serendipitous. Issue is that the REEFER-S has a 3/8in euro brace at the bottom of the tank. I could insert a 3/8in textured ABS board but it will be quite pricey & much harder to manipulate/cut than a 1/8in sheet. So, the questions are:

1. Do you find the brace creates a detritus trap?
2. Did you cushion the base rock or place it directly on the glass bottom?

Quick update..installed canopy and one Coral care gen2 fixture.will add 2 more in coming days.added first batch of fishes too..

3. Pintail wrasse
4.yellow tang
5.Purple tang
6.Copperband butterfly

all these fishes are in mature tank of 3 yrs old.

I mostly use an Orphek aquarium lens with my phone. Fits most phones and colors are pretty good with no additional steps needed. Icecap make another popular one, but it only fits some phones, same filters though. Sadly I don't have time to use the dslr as much as I'd like, but I use Adobe Lightroom on those pics and add a filter that way. The dslr and lightroom is certainly better, but very time consuming in comparison.
