So I have had a new jf solar flare frag since yesterday. Opened up nicely and was doing fine. Today while feeding my fish knocked it into a colony of palys. Has not opened up since. Could this be a problem?

hopefully grabbed in time ,swished a bit, best wishes :)

I feel like the stupidest **** happens to my most expensive corals. Like my zoanthids have never been messed with while my goniopora was relentlessly attacked by a angelfish and pushed off of its rock by hermit crabs

It's always possible, but I can't tell you how many times I've had frags fall into zoas/palys and be just fine. I'd assume the frag is unhappy (partly because it's new and partly from the fall), but if I had to put money on it, I'd give it the same odds as any new sps frag.

Thanks man. That makes me feel better :)

I got it out really fast. Realistically would the Paly be able to inflict damage that quickly? I saw it fall turned and got it out

There's really no chance of the paly delivering that much damage in that amount of time. When mine fell, they were there for 12-24 hours :). While palys do have a pretty strong toxin, the dose is in the poison, as it were. As such, you would have to have enough contact time for the tissue to be affected or the paly would have to have enough time to decide to ramp up it's chemical warfare against the "new neighbors". A glancing blow/brush against a paly isn't something I would worry about. Now if that frag had fallen against a carpet anemone, we'd be having a VERY different conversation ;)

Lol thank you very much. I’ll give it a day before freaking out.

My palys and zoas always touch and I haven’t had an issue except palys growing over the zoas and blocking the light thx

Give it 24 hrs and a little flow. Should be fine

Exactly what I’m doing. Thank you all for all the help. Honestly this community is the best. I feel like everyone is helpful
