Hi all

I picked up this frag from my LFS today. Its my 1st SPS coral. I've dipped using refsea dip x then put in at the top of my tank, been in about 6 hours so far.

It looks like it's got some sort of coating on it on one side now. I've read they can slime up but I've touched it & pretty solid still.

My parameters today are Alk 8.4 Cal 450 Mag 1200, Phosphate & Nitrate 0.

My lights are UV, V, RB & B all at 50% on AI hydra 32s.

Is it just acclimatising or think I'm in trouble here?

Cheers

Po4 and No3 both at 0 is a problem I guess. You need nutrition in your tank.
The other frags I've got seem to be doing well, or is this just for SPS?

Also, I'm running rawphos & never seen Nitrate or Phosphate over 0 since the tank cycled.

How would I get them up without getting algae?

Ah right ok, I didn't think I needed to do that for SPS.

I'll move it down & see how it goes
Yes, move it up an inch or two every couple of days. It’s easy to do if you have a frag rack on the glass.
I made this mistake too and almost killed a couple of nice Acros. It didn’t make sense to me at first, take it from 300 par at the lfs , drive half hour home, dip etc and in the tank within an hour of 300 par. Figured it should just go right back into high light and flow….. nope! Lol.

Mov it down and acclimate it over time.
But also I would suggest to get some po4 and no3 in this tank.. Otherwise problems will pop up sooner then later.

Right it's in the bottom 1/4 of the tank now.

How would you recommend raising po4 & no3?
