SPS Frag Tank Setup

There are many out there that work just fine if your tank is 1/2" or less in thickness. There are very few that work well that are 3/4" thickness or more. I fall under the latter ofcourse because it makes sense to make things difficult. What to look for are strong magnets for stability, and stability and stability. Nothing worst than a snail being able to knock it down.

So do you attach the egg crate with superglue or epoxy? I'm sure it's cheaper to make the racks like that anyways.

I don't use eggcrate myself but I'm sure you can find tons of pics. Glue, zip ties..etc. I would probably use zip ties if making a frag stand out of eggcrate and pvc.

Well I guess if I'm going to do a frag rack in my display tank I at least want it to look sleek and visually appealing. I guess I'm going to need to look around and find the best one for me and my tank.

Well my opinion is cancel the frag kit, putty and coral rx. Replace with some nice bone cutters, dollar store super glue gel and bayer advanced pesticide. Will save you quite a bit and will work better. Most of the stuff in your $80 kit you'll never use.

I'm not affiliated with him, I have one of the extra large racks and it is by far the nicest design I have seen. I got the clear one. He has a good variety of shapes and sizes.

^^^those extra strong magnet ones are the only ones I use on my tanks. They make quality stuff.

If I dont get the kit, should I still get two different size bone cutters? One for large branches and one for finer work?

That would work fine. I've been using one size for about ten yrs. It's the only frag tool I really own besides tweezers.
